Responsibilities: This position will combine learning and applying what you learn to invention and design projects. Invention Crew members will learn to use tools, technologies and materials to design and build projects, and apply these skills to create projects that meet a need in the community. You will work both individually and collaboratively, and with the support of adult mentors (engineers, designers, artists and college students). You will work closely as a team to brainstorm, solve problems, test and evaluate designs, and present your work. Team meetings will take place at St. Paul College, the Science Museum, and occasionally at other sites in the community. Requirements: 10th or 11th grader at Johnson, Harding or Humboldt (due to grant requirements). No science or engineering experience is necessary, but an interest in science and a desire to learn, try new things and work with others is essential. Responsible, punctual, able to follow directions, able to work well with people of all ages, flexible, and enthusiastic about working at the museum and with children. Pay rate: $6.25/hr.
